Our Values
What are our values,
and what do they mean to us?
We are a friendly and welcoming Christ-centered group of believers who strive to be worthy of God’s grace. Our congregation consists of a mix of life long members and descendants of the original 1891 founders united with a diverse group from a variety of church backgrounds. What we all have in common is a deep abiding faith rooted in God’s word as revealed through scripture combined with a commitment to Lutheran doctrine and principles.
We confess that by our very nature, humans are sinful and are in need of spiritual cleansing. We further accept that a believer can never be free from sin, or live outside of the grace of God. Therefore, we rely on God’s grace through scripture, together with the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion for our salvation.
As we continue to renew our faith at St. Mark’s, we hope that you will consider joining us and thereby either refresh or ignite your commitment to an upright and Godly life through Christian Lutheran worship.
We Believe…
That the bible is the divinely, inspired, infallible, inerrant, and the true word of God.
That God’s word is the final authority in our lives.
That the Bible is the source of our faith and daily practice.
In the Triune God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
That there are Two Sacraments: Holy Baptism through which we are made children of God and receive the promises and gifts of His Grace, Holy Communion in which Jesus’ real presence is in, with and under the bread and wine.
In the physical life, death, and resurrection and Jesus Christ.
That the Apostles’, Nicene and Athanasian Creeds, as well as the Book of Concord, are our true declarations of faith.
That we can only be saved from our sinful nature by God’s Grace alone through Faith alone and not through works or deeds.
That the Word of God speaks to us as both law and Gospel.
